Bundle attributes
A bundle attribute lets the customer choose another product as part of the current configuration. Each value in a bundle attribute points to a separate product offer in your catalogue, so selecting a value is equivalent to adding (or swapping) that product.
This is how Expivi models add-ons, upgrades, and variant-product selectors: instead of a flat list of labels, the customer is picking between live products that have their own prices, descriptions, and configurators.
When to use
- You sell a base product together with optional accessories, and each accessory is a separate product in the catalogue (for example, a sofa with optional footstools or cushion sets).
- You want the customer to choose between variant products. For example, different frame styles that are each a distinct product offer — rather than a single product with variant attributes.
- You need the chosen add-on to appear as a separate line in the order or BOM (Parts).
- The end customer can add multiple of the same add on
- You are setting up a modular configurator with connection modules
If the choice is between visual or specification options on the same product (colour, size, material), use a Configurable attribute instead.
Value type
Bundle attributes have exactly one value type: Product. You cannot change it.
Type-specific settings
A bundle attribute has one additional setting below the General card:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Mandatory | When checked, the customer must select a value before completing the configuration. When unchecked, "none" is a valid selection and no add-on product is included. |
Values
Each value in a bundle attribute links to a product offer in your catalogue.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Product | The product offer this value represents. Search and select from the product catalogue. |
| Default | Mark one value as the default selection. The default product is pre-selected when the configurator loads. |
The value also has the standard fields (Identifier, Status, Categories, Description, Thumbnail).
A product offer selected here must already exist in your catalogue. Create the add-on or variant product first, then come back and assign it to the bundle attribute value (Products).
How bundle attributes interact with pricing and BOM
When a customer selects a bundle value, the linked product's own price is included in the order total (depending on your pricing setup). The linked product can also have its own BOM components, which are merged into the parent product's BOM when the bundle value is selected.
