Setting up the scene
- Start with the General preset.
- Remove the default camera, light, and cube with X or Delete.
- Use File › Import and select your model's format.
Creating a hierarchy
Press Shift+A › Empty › Plain Axes to create hierarchy nodes. Rename them in the Outliner using the hierarchy naming conventions.
Adding basic materials
Select a mesh, open Material Properties, and click New. Rename the material as needed. Use the material dropdown to assign an existing material.
note
Materials can also be created in Expivi when using material groups. Blender's metalness and roughness values do not transfer, according to the source guide.
Exporting the model
- Open File › Export and choose FBX, the recommended format.
- Enable Selected Objects for a selection; leave selection filtering disabled for the entire scene.
Export scale
For proper scaling in expivi set 0.01 for export scale to preserve size. Check the imported dimensions against your scene's unit setup.
